Natural Sciences

The Natural Sciences and Environmental Education department of the Instituto Pedagógico Nacional aims to support students’ learning processes regarding scientific skills established in the documents of the Ministry of National Education (MEN). These skills are developed through the academic subjects of Natural Sciences (elementary school), Biology (6th to 9th grade), Environmental Education (6th to 8th grade), Physics (6th to 11th grade) and Chemistry (6th to 11th grade). Likewise, they are integrated into the Living Environments focus for secondary education, in coordination with the Physical Education and Philosophy, Ethics, and Religion (FER) departments.

In addition, the institution participates in Integrated Pedagogical Projects (PPI) within communities 3,4,5 and 6, as well as cross-curriculars projects such as PRAE, Mobility, Mediation, Sexuality, Democracy, Productive use of free time, School Newspaper, Internationalization, and Education for Peace, thereby contributing to civic education.

To achieve these purposes, the area has specialized classrooms such as laboratories, computer labs, the library and a farm, which allow students, alongside their teachers, to develop scientific skills, build knowledge and, as established in our Institutional Educational Project (PEI), become passionate about learning.
